WORKSHOP FAQs

Will I get a copy of The Business of Birth Photography Book?

In past workshops we have not provided this book however we will provide Adelaide workshop attendees a copy of the book prior to the workshop. This will provide everyone with a great reference for all things we work through and may help prompt you to ask questions during our time together.

Where exactly will the workshop be run?

UniSA City East Campus, Centenary Building, Level 5, Room 21

Can I pay in installments?

YES, installments are accepted for nominated EARLY BIRD and Full Price Registrations. The registrations on the Eventzilla website offers the flexibility of part payments. If you wish to do part payment after the close off day, please contact us directly to make special arrangements.

What's your Refund Policy?

3.      Cancellations:

a.  Cancellations by the Participant must be received by email at least 31 days before the date of the workshop.  Failure to do so will incur the loss of the full workshop fee.

b.  If ABP cancels a workshop through no fault of the Participant, the Participant will be informed by email or phone and any monies paid by the Participant will be refunded in full within 7 days of the cancellation. ABPW is not responsible for any other costs which the Participant may have incurred, including but not limited to car rental, insurance, photographic purchases and/or rentals.

What does that mean exactly? Well, if you cancel your registration at least 31 days before the workshop commenses, or if we cancel the workshop for any reason, you will receive back all the money you have paid.

Can I transfer my place at the workshop?

If you let us know more than 31 days before the workshop starts that you can't attend, your money will be refunded. If it is less than 31 days before the workshop and you find someone to attend in your place, please let us know. If they register and pay in full prior to the workshop, we will refund your investment to you.

Unfortunately, we can't offer the transfer of registrations between workshops held for the same participant as the frequency of workshops is not enough to facilitate this.

What's involved with the Birth Shoot Simulations?

Usually, a midwife or birth worker, a pregnant couple, a baby (real and fake!), various lighting and room configurations, the list goes on... You will likely be paired up with another photographer and guided through a common scenario to photograph using various techniques. Whether you want to practice bouncing flash, testing the limits of your ISO or looking for the best perspectives, this is your opportunity to work things out without the added pressure of a live birth situation. Because we believe professional photographers don't practice on their clients!

What are the start and finish times for the workshop days?

Our workshop will run from 6pm to 9pm on the Friday and then 9am - 5.00pm over 2 days. As our workshops are an intimate affair, the majority of workshop activities will be run from the single venue to make it easy and relaxing. You are welcome to arrive at the workshop venue anytime from 8.50am each day.

Do I need to bring my own food?

No, but if you're partial to particular snacks or treat or beverage, please do bring your own. You must also advise us of any food alergies or preferences at least a week before the workshop. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea, along with one dinner will be supplied.

Is accommodation included in the workshop fee?

No. If you do require accommodation, please select the Accommodation and Transfers option when registering. We have hired a house for our interstate participants to share over the weekend. You will be able to arrive anytime from Friday after 2pm and depart Monday before 11am. We would love to pick you up from the airport and take you to the house. Please let us know your flight details and we will meet you at the baggage claim. Transport to the venue from the house will also be arranged for you.

Is there anything in particular I need to bring with me?

Comfortable clothing,  your birth photography equipment, laptop (if you have one), notebook, and your beautiful self!

You're not running a workshop in my city. How can I get you to come to me?

No matter where you are in the world, email us at hello@birthphotographyworkshops.com and put forward a case! We need a minimum number of photographers to register so if you have a group who are keen then we would love to come and run one for you. It will certainly be usefull if you are already connected with birth workers in your area. Having your ground support can work in your favour too... help us out and it might just cover the cost of your place at the workshop!
