AUSTRALIAN WORKSHOP - The Business of Birth Photography
Every day I have an email, message or comment coming through about when the next Australian birth photography workshop will be. Over the last 12 months there have actually been 6 opportunities to attend workshops across the country. Due to the amount of work invested into creating a useful and relevant workshop for attendees, the decision has been made to cut back on quantity and build on quality!
Now that I have teamed up with the amazingly talented and THE MOST experienced birth photographer I know in the Southern Hemisphere, Cassie Emmett - we have changed the shape of the previous workshop structure into an experience far more hands on.
We want photographers to have as much practical experience as we can possibly create for an in-person workshop. This means, shooting birth simulations, witnessing client meetings, practicing other closely related session types you might like to consider as a part of the birth photography experience, among many other interesting activities!!
The biggest challenge with organising these workshops has to be obtaining the birth simulation space - think Hospital / Birth Suite / Midwifery Training Facility. In fact, the entire workshop and specifically the location is based around gaining access to one of these facilities.
Here's the issue, the only place in Australia I've successfully negotiated access to facilitate a birth simulation for photographers is in my beautiful home town of Adelaide.
So, I would like to pose a question to you all.... what would you prefer?
OPTION 1: Fly to Auckland and come to the amazing retreat in NZ with Birth Centre access this May with all food and accommodation expenses covered? (seriously, flights aren't that expensive!)
OPTION 2: Come to Adelaide in November 2015 and enjoy an amazing retreat in sunny South Australia with Birth Training Room access - once again, food and accommodation covered.
OPTION 3: Come to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland in November 2015 and enjoy an amazing retreat without the Birth Centre simulation, rather a Home Birth simulation only. And yes, food and accommodation will be a part of the package.
Your feedback is most valued! The spirit of the workshop retreat is that you get 3 full days to experience all things birth photography, to network, build on your skills and help raise the profile of the genre.
